LEVEL 3 AWARD IN FIRE RISK ASSESSMENT (5 DAY TRAINING COURSE) and 2 DAY CPD COURSE FIRE RISK ASSESSMENTS IN HMO’s & PURPOSE-BUILT BLOCKS OF FLATS
In November 2023, prompted by changes arising from S156 of the Building Safety Act 2022 and other legislation, I attended Dave’s 5 day Level 3 Course and his separate 2 day Course on HMOs and Flats as this was relevant to my workload and responsibilities.
Dave has a generosity of spirit and knowledge – the 7 days overall were hugely enjoyable, and informative – and there is no flannel from Dave backed by his demonstrably remarkable experience and qualifications.
Whilst without a doubt this was possibly some of the most challenging training I’ve attended, Dave delivers – knowledge was effortlessly transferred between him and the delegates.
The venue was fantastic too- fabulous lunch every day and coffee breaks – all part of the learning experience as Dave joined the delegates for lunch and was generous with his time and friendliness.
Within a month of attending the course and passing the portfolio assessment (again one of the most challenging things I’ve had to do) I was rewarded with a recognised qualification (for the 5 day course) and this coupled with my near on 30 years experience of managing risk in multiple occupancy buildings meant that my application to join the Institute of Fire Safety Managers at Associate level was approved and I was able to join their Tiered Fire Risk Assessor Register (TFRAR) at Tier 1.
There were so many “courses” available- on line- that Im so pleased that I took the time to investigate what was and was not legitimate.

2-Day Advancement Fire Risk Assessment Training Course
I recently attended a fire risk assessment training course delivered by David Prince, and I can confidently say it was outstanding. David’s technical expertise on current legislation is second to none, and his ability to break down complex regulations and fire guidance into clear, practical advice is highly commendable.
His engaging, effective and humorous delivery style ensures all delegates feel confident in applying their knowledge.
The course was exceptionally well-structured, providing real-world insights backed by David’s extensive experience as a fire risk assessor and professional trainer.

2-Day Advancement Fire Risk Assessment Training Course
I attended a 2-Day Advancement FRA course in Manchester in February 2025, hosted and taught by Dave Prince.
The course did not disappoint and provided two days of challenging and rewarding work and study which included classroom based assessments of various premises including those as diverse as serviced accommodation, meeting/ entertainment venues, schools and places of worship of various denominations.
Dave’s knowledge, aligned with the undoubted experience of many of the other attendees, provided a unique and almost certainly unmatched opportunity for the sharing of skills and information between fire safety professionals.
Many of those attending, including myself were return learners – having benefited from attending previous training through Dave.
This training is unique- its direct, its relevant, its delivered by someone who has real and relevant knowledge and who is passionate and committed to making buildings safer and saving lives.
I cannot recommend training and education from Dave and his company highly enough.

Why Choose Us?
Our courses encompass the principles of fire safety risk assessment.
Delegates will learn how the fire risk assessment process ‘pieces’ together with this course covering all of the necessary basic elements of a fire risk assessment.
Course contains an update on building cladding types.
Delegates complete a workbook and or exercises relevant to each presentation.
On the 3 Day course delegates will complete a ‘mock premises’ fire risk assessment exercise (desktop exercise).
The course is non-assessable; however, delegates must complete the course and the course workbook to receive their certificate of attendance.
The Trainer
Training is delivered by David; David is formally a Fire and Rescue Service Officer with 27 years’ experience, David was a warranted ‘Fire Safety Inspecting Officer’, Fire and Rescue Service Qualified Fire Investigation Officer.
Since retiring David Prince has delivered Fire Risk Assessment training nationally and has a wide range of experience in delivering such training to all sectors especially to Health and Safety practitioners. David Prince continues to undertake fire risk assessments of a wide range of premises types throughout the UK. David Prince is one of only 73 Nationally Accredited Fire Risk Assessors on the FRACS register and is also listed on the IFSM Register of Fire Risk Assessors (No 151). David Prince also has formal teaching qualifications (Dip Ed) as well as a wide range of ‘Fire and Rescue Service’ fire safety qualifications. As a fire safety practitioner David is aware of current Fire Safety practices.

Accreditation
We are an ‘Institute of Fire Safety Managers’ (IFSM) ‘Accredited Centre’.
An ‘Certificate of Attendance’ Accredited by ‘The Institute of Fire Safety Managers’ (IFSM) is Awarded to each delegate that completes the course.
The course is non-assessable; however, delegates must complete the course and the course workbook to receive their certificate of attendance; the workbook is completed during the course.
Continual Professional Development (CPD): 19 Hours of ‘Formal’ CPD is awarded.
Course Duration
Courses include a buffet lunch, teas and coffees, soft drinks and light snacks each day.
