About this Course:
This course is designed to provide Experienced Fire Risk Assessors with a range of challenging exercises conducted over 2-days.
The 2-Day course consists of an update on the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 and the Section 156 of the Building Safety Act 2022.

Fire Risk Assessor Competency
Extract from the ‘Fire Risk Assessment Competency Council Framework’:
“Complex Premises will require a higher level of knowledge, understanding and, preferably experience on the part of the fire risk assessor. For such premises, there will be a need for the specific applied knowledge and skills of an appropriately qualified specialist. In such cases, evidence of specialist training and experience, or membership of a professional body, or certification by a third-party certificated body, need an appropriate knowledge of: The assessment of risk from fire (Appendix A), The applicable Legislation (Appendix B), Appropriate Guidance (Appendix C), Behaviour of fire in premises (Appendix D), Effects of fire on people and behaviour of people in fire situations (Appendix E), Means of escape (Appendix F), Fire Prevention (Appendix G), Fire Protection (Appendix H_includes Passive and Active fire protection) and Management of Fire Safety (Appendix I)”
Learning Outcomes
By the end to the course the delegates will*:
Be able to reference the Fire Safety Law for England and Wales
Be able to reference appropriate guidance documents
Understand means of escape
*The course also considers how the delegate will manage their expectations regarding the fire risk assessment process.
Instruction methodology
The course uses a delegate workbook (the delegate keeps this for future reference), presentations and exercises which are interactively debriefed during the course. Throughout the course delegates will complete the workbook exercises relevant to each presentation.
The Trainer
Training is delivered by David; David is formally a Fire and Rescue Service Officer with 27 years’ experience, David was a warranted ‘Fire Safety Inspecting Officer’, Fire and Rescue Service Qualified Fire Investigation Officer. Since then David has delivered numerous Fire Risk Assessment training nationally and has a wide range of experience in delivering such training to all sectors especially to Health and Safety practitioners. David continues to undertake fire risk assessments of a wide range of premises types throughout the UK.
David Prince is a Nationally Accredited Fire Risk Assessors on the FRACS register (No 73) and is also listed on the IFSM Register of Fire Risk Assessors (No 151) and BAFE SP205-1 Life Safety Fire Risk Assessments Silver.
David Prince also has formal teaching qualifications (Dip Ed) as well as a wide range of ‘Fire and Rescue Service’ fire safety qualifications. As a fire safety practitioner David is aware of current Fire Safety practices.

Accreditation
We are an ‘Institute of Fire Safety Managers’ (IFSM) ‘Accredited Centre’. A ‘Certificate of Attendance’ is Awarded to each delegate that completes the course. Delegates must complete the course and the course workbook to receive their certificate of attendance; the workbook is completed during the course. Continual Professional Development (CPD): 12 Hours of ‘Formal’ CPD is awarded.
Course duration
5 Days 09.00 Hours to 17:00 Hours, with morning and afternoon breaks and 45 minutes for lunch. This 2-day course includes a light lunch, teas and coffees, soft drinks and light snacks each day.

There are 16 places, and they will be secured on a “first come first served basis” by booking on our web page or by booking directly with us. Payment secures a place or places on our courses.
For a course to proceed there needs to be a minimum of 5 delegates. A decision to run a course will be taken one week prior to the course start date.
You should have a minimum of English and Maths at Level 2 Functional Skills, this is an alternative qualification to GCSE.
Larger groups and bespoke course, we have wide experience of developing and delivering accredited fire risk assessment courses which can be delivered at your venue (Mitie, Securitas, Manchester Airport, Mears Group, Bristol University, Cotton Traders, Lincolnshire Council to name but a few)
